Role Overview
The Retail Store Manager provides leadership oversight for store safety, pet parent experience, operations, financial results, and HR functions. You'll drive company culture, achieve targets, champion exceptional service, and execute daily business while upholding PetSmart's vision, mission, and values.
Key Responsibilities
- People Leadership: Recruit, hire, coach, schedule, develop associates, conduct reviews, and build an open-door culture using Voice of Associate feedback.
- Store Experience: Ensure safe, healthy environments for pets and people; lead pet parent interactions; conduct Core and Services Walks; manage inventory and compliance.
- Operational Excellence: Review cameras for safety, handle pet emergencies, collaborate on events, communicate objectives, and prioritize process improvements.
Experience & Skills
Seeking leaders with 3+ years in retail management, strong team-building skills, pet care knowledge, financial savvy, and passion for customer service. Must excel in delegation, conflict resolution, and fostering engagement in a fast-paced environment.

- Ensure compliance with policies, conduct safety walks, and manage inventory levels
- Foster associate engagement through recognition, training, and open communication
- Collaborate on store events, community partnerships, and process improvements
- Monitor store cameras, address risks, and handle pet health emergencies
