Role Overview
The Retail Store Manager (Store Leader) provides comprehensive oversight of store safety, pet parent experiences, operations, finances, and HR functions. You'll champion PetSmart's vision, mission, and values while achieving targeted results through exceptional service and efficient execution. Key Responsibilities
People Leadership
Handle recruiting, hiring, coaching, and terminations; build an open-door culture with associate feedback tools; create schedules, facilitate reviews, training, and succession planning; recognize achievements and address grievances.
Store Experience
Lead pet parent interactions across channels; ensure pet safety and health; maintain store standards via monthly walks and camera reviews; manage inventory, events, and community partnerships; prioritize safety for associates, pets, and customers.
Business Management
Execute corporate strategies for profitability; analyze performance and root causes; communicate objectives; handle openings/closings and vet transports as needed.
Experience & Skills
Ideal candidates bring 3+ years in retail management, expertise in team building, customer service, and P&L management. Key skills include delegation, conflict resolution, process improvement, and pet care knowledge. Must thrive in flexible schedules and foster empowerment.
