Role Overview

The Retail Store Manager (Store Leader) provides comprehensive leadership over store safety, pet parent experiences, operations, finances, and HR functions. You'll drive company culture, achieve key results, champion exceptional service, and execute daily business efficiently while upholding PetSmart's vision, mission, values, and strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • People Leadership: Handle recruiting, hiring, coaching, scheduling, reviews, training, and engagement to build a high-performing team.
  • Store Experience: Ensure safe, healthy environments for pets and people; deliver outstanding pet parent service; conduct compliance walks and manage inventory.
  • Business Management: Analyze metrics, execute strategies, drive profitability, and collaborate on events and community partnerships.

Ideal candidates bring retail management experience, strong leadership, customer service expertise, financial acumen, and pet industry knowledge.   • Proficiency in scheduling and labor management (experience)
  • Experience with inventory control systems (experience)
  • Commitment to safety protocols for people and pets (experience)
  • Flexible availability including nights/weekends (experience)
  • High school diploma; bachelor's degree preferred (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all store operations including safety, customer experience, and financial performance
  • Lead recruitment, hiring, coaching, and performance management of associates
  • Build high-engagement team culture through recognition, feedback, and development
  • Ensure exceptional pet parent service and resolve escalated concerns
  • Manage inventory, conduct store walks, and maintain compliance with policies
  • Analyze business metrics, execute strategies, and drive profitability goals
  • Prioritize safety for associates, pets, and customers; review cameras for accountability
  • Collaborate on events, community partnerships, and store standards
  • Create and manage store schedules while cascading business objectives
  • Facilitate onboarding, training, and succession planning
