Role Overview
The Retail Store Manager (Store Leader) provides comprehensive leadership over store safety, pet parent experiences, operations, financial results, and HR functions. You'll champion PetSmart's vision, mission, and values while driving exceptional service, efficient execution, and targeted business outcomes in a dynamic pet retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
- People Leadership: Recruit, hire, coach, schedule, and develop associates; conduct reviews, foster engagement, and handle grievances to build high-performing teams.
- Store Experience: Ensure safe, healthy environments for pets and people; deliver outstanding pet parent service in-store, online, and via phone; lead events and compliance walks.
- Business Management: Analyze performance metrics, execute corporate strategies, manage inventory, review security footage, and drive profitability goals.
Experience & Skills
Ideal candidates bring 3+ years of retail management experience, strong leadership in team building and P&L accountability, passion for pets, and skills in customer service, operations, and adaptability. Proficiency in scheduling, training, and fostering inclusive cultures is essential.
