Role Overview
The Retail Store Manager (Store Leader) provides comprehensive oversight of store safety, pet parent experiences, operations, finances, and HR functions. You'll champion PetSmart's culture, achieve key results, and ensure exceptional service while upholding our vision, mission, and values. Key Responsibilities
People Leadership
Recruit, hire, coach, and manage associate performance; build an open-door culture; create schedules; facilitate training, reviews, and succession planning; recognize achievements to boost engagement.
Store Experience
Lead pet parent interactions, ensure pet safety, maintain store standards, conduct compliance walks, manage inventory, review cameras for accountability, and handle openings/closings.
Business Management
Execute corporate strategies for profitability, analyze performance, communicate objectives, partner on events, and continuously improve processes for operational excellence.
Experience & Skills
Ideal candidates bring 2+ years in retail management, strong people leadership, customer service expertise, financial acumen, and pet industry passion. Key skills include delegation, conflict resolution, data-driven decision-making, and adaptability to flexible schedules.

- Manage inventory, scheduling, and business objectives to meet profitability goals
- Foster team engagement through recognition, training, and open communication
- Collaborate on events, adoption partnerships, and continuous process improvements
- Handle pet welfare issues including vet transport as needed
