Role Overview
The Retail Store Manager (Store Leader) provides comprehensive leadership over store safety, pet parent experiences, operations, financial results, and HR functions. You'll champion PetSmart's vision, mission, and values while delivering exceptional service and efficient execution in Washington, Missouri.
Key Responsibilities
- People Leadership: Recruit, hire, coach, and develop associates; create schedules; facilitate reviews, training, and succession planning; build an open-door culture.
- Store Experience: Ensure safe, healthy environments for pets and people; lead pet parent interactions; conduct monthly walks; maintain compliance and inventory.
- Business Management: Execute strategies for profitability; analyze performance; communicate objectives; partner on events and community initiatives.
Experience & Skills
Ideal candidates have 2+ years in retail management, strong leadership, customer service expertise, and financial acumen. Pet industry knowledge is a plus. Must thrive in dynamic settings with flexible hours, excelling in team empowerment, problem-solving, and results-driven execution.

- Create schedules, conduct performance reviews, and manage labor
- Ensure exceptional pet parent service and resolve escalations
- Maintain inventory levels and conduct monthly store walks
- Drive profitability through strategic execution and process improvements
- Foster company culture and associate engagement
- Monitor store cameras, enforce policies, and prioritize safety
- Collaborate on events and community partnerships
- Handle pet welfare issues including vet transport as needed
