Role Overview
The Retail Store Manager (Store Leader) provides comprehensive leadership over store safety, pet parent experiences, operations, financial results, and HR functions. You'll drive PetSmart's culture, achieve key targets, champion exceptional service, and execute daily business while upholding our vision, mission, and values.
Key Responsibilities
- People Leadership: Recruit, hire, coach, and develop associates; create schedules, facilitate reviews, and build an open-door culture using Voice of Associate feedback.
- Store Experience: Ensure pet safety and health; lead pet parent interactions; conduct Core and Services Walks; monitor cameras for safety and compliance; manage openings/closings.
- Business Management: Deliver profitability goals, analyze performance, optimize inventory, and communicate objectives to drive results.
Experience & Skills
Seeking leaders with 3+ years in retail management, expertise in team building, customer service, operations, and financial accountability. Passion for pets, strong decision-making, and ability to thrive in a dynamic environment are essential. Experience with adoption events and community partnerships is a plus.

- Oversee all store operations including safety, customer experience, and financial performance
- Lead recruitment, hiring, coaching, and performance reviews for associates
- Ensure exceptional pet parent service and resolve escalated concerns
- Manage inventory, scheduling, and compliance with policies and procedures
- Conduct store walks, camera reviews, and drive continuous improvement initiatives
- Foster company culture, associate engagement, and community partnerships
