Role Overview
The Retail Store Manager (Store Leader) provides comprehensive leadership over store safety, pet parent experiences, operations, financial results, and HR functions. Drive company culture, achieve key metrics, champion pet parent service, and execute daily business while upholding PetSmart's vision, mission, values, and strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- People Leadership: Recruit, hire, coach, and develop associates; create schedules; facilitate reviews, training, and succession planning; build an open-door culture and address grievances.
- Store Experience: Ensure pet safety and health; manage pet parent interactions; conduct Core and Services Walks; maintain compliance; prioritize safety; review cameras for coaching.
- Business Management: Deliver profitability goals; analyze performance; optimize inventory; communicate objectives; partner on events and adoptions.
Experience & Skills
Ideal candidates bring 3+ years of retail management, strong leadership in high-volume environments, pet industry knowledge, P&L experience, and a passion for team empowerment. Key skills include strategic delegation, feedback responsiveness, process improvement, and crisis management for pets and people.
