Job Description

ROLE SUMMARY

  • The Center of Excellence (COE) Sub-Team Lead is responsible for managing a group of Medical Operations and Financial Operations Associates and contractors, ensuring consistent planning, execution, and monitoring of Independent Medical Grants (IMG) and Research Collaborations (RC).
  • The Sub-Team Lead is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day practice of direct reports, monitoring the quality of their work, and ensuring compliance with all business rules and standard operating procedures. This role also provides guidance and support to Associates by monitoring training needs and supporting implementation of technology enabled processes.
  • The Sub-Team Lead will work closely with team members within External Research Grants (ERG) and Medical Platform Services (MPS), as well as with stakeholders from inside and outside of the company to ensure deliverables meet project goals.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Direct management of approximately 6-10 Associates and contractors.
  • Facilitate relationships between Associates/contractors and key stakeholders to ensure all grants/programs are processed and managed in an effective, efficient, and compliant manner.
  • Cascade and implement strategic goals of the COE to ensure quality and efficiency goals are met.
  • Oversees and coaches Associates to ensure they have the technical knowledge and experience to work with the appropriate Pfizer teams and external clients as required. Mentor and train new Associates as needed- encourage and support development planning.
  • Oversight assigned tasks and responsibilities of Associates, ensure standard procedures and project deliverables are met.
  • Proactively identify and anticipate issues and develop possible solutions. Take actions to prevent or address complex issues, escalate to senior management as needed.
  • Participate in continuous improvement of working practices; contribute to strategic resource planning and other management activities as required.
  • Provide primary operational support for a limited selection of independent grants programs, including performing due diligence, coordinating reviews, contract negotiation, payment planning and execution, facilitating drug orders, and performing regular program oversight.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA, BS) required with preference for a focus in science, healthcare, or related field; Master’s Degree a plus.
  • 4+ years operational experience in clinical trial management, educational/research grants, or healthcare industry (pharmaceuticals/life sciences/medical).
  • Experience as team leader and managing/developing direct reports.
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills in both written and oral English.
  • Good understanding of Pfizer independent grants process, strong knowledge of relevant Pfizer Therapeutic Area(s), subject matter expertise in grants, collaborations and partnerships, and international experience are desirable.
  • Ability to work well and lead direct reports in a virtual environment, and in matrix and multi-cultural organization, be flexible in handling resources and be able to quickly address short and long-term resourcing needs.
  • Adept at the use of computer-based tools and systems (e.g., tracking, financial, clinical supply, investigator credentialing, document management, etc.) used to support program management. Experience with various Pfizer processes/systems/functions: MAPP (FCPA), Ariba SAP reporting strongly preferred.
  • Well-developed planning, observation, analytical and problem-solving skills. Emphasis on time management, prioritization, follow through, and issue resolution abilities. Consistently meets timelines.
  • Demonstrate independent judgment and decision-making skills with respect to functional responsibilities.

ROLE SUMMARY
