Role Overview

As a PRN Pharmacist at Cardinal Health's New Orleans Nuclear Pharmacy, you'll ensure the safe preparation and distribution of radiopharmaceuticals. This flexible, as-needed role involves one day per week, weekend/holiday rotations, and PTO coverage. Shifts vary between 2:00 AM-9:00 AM and 9:00 AM-3:00 PM, offering work-life balance while supporting critical healthcare needs. Key Responsibilities

Your daily contributions will drive operational excellence:

  • Handle telephone orders using Order Receipt and Entry systems, adhering to Board of Pharmacy laws and identifying failure modes.
  • Prepare and dispense radiopharmaceuticals per prescriptions, company policies, and regulations; oversee technicians where permitted.
  • Conduct quality control tests, assay medications for identity/purity/strength, perform white blood cell labeling, and manage elutions/inventory.
  • Maintain inventory programs, stock room via 5S methodology, and package doses for shipping.
  • Shadow customers, collect impact data, review scorecards, and complete White Belt Training in Operational Excellence.
  • Serve as Pharmacist in Charge, train new hires, and deliver doses if required.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education & Licensing

A Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy or PharmD is required, plus a valid Louisiana Pharmacist license (or in process). Complete at least 200 hours of nuclear pharmacy training from an accredited program.

Skills & Abilities

Demonstrate strong customer service, intermediate computer skills, manual dexterity for dispensing, and clear communication. Knowledge of biohazardous waste management is essential. Physically, lift up to 75 pounds, hold a valid Louisiana driver's license, and drive in all weather conditions for deliveries day or night.

Experience

Prior nuclear pharmacy exposure preferred; flexibility for varying shifts is key.
