Job Description

Job Title

Data Ecosystem Leader

Job Description

The Data Ecosystem Leader is the principal individual contributor responsible for working across BUs to understand which data is needed for which business/clinical outcomes, design sourcing strategies (clinical partnerships, third-party procurement, installed base, new data sharing models) and ensure the tools, contracts and governance are in place and offered as trusted, re-usable data assets to other BUs

You translate Philips’ enterprise data strategy into a federated operating model, enterprise data standards, tools and a practical adoption plan.

You lead through influence (no direct reports) and communicate fluently between technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Your role:

BU Data Needs & Sourcing Strategy

  • Partner with BUs to identify what data is needed and where can it be found, for which use cases, and at what quality/scale
  • Define sourcing strategies using clinical partnerships, external vendors, installed base/connected devices, and emerging data sharing models.
  • Ensure data sourcing plans are value-driven, re-usable, compliant, and aligned with Philips’ data strategy.

Enterprise Data Operating Model & Governance

  • Design and maintain the federated data operating model: roles, RACI and engagement between central and BU data teams.
  • Chair the Data Leadership Forum, drive cross-BU alignment, and run the standards/exception process.

Standards, Architectures & Ecosystem Design

  • Author and publish enterprise data/platform reference architectures, policies, and standards that cover both internal platforms and external data relationships.
  • Coordinate design authorities to ensure consistent application of standards across initiatives and BUs.
  • Ensure architectures and standards promote interoperability and reusability of data assets across BUs.

Vendor, Tooling & Partnership Enablement

  • Scan the market for state-of-the-art tools, platforms and methodologies for data acquisition, management and sharing.
  • Engage with vendors, structure scopes and support contracting with Legal/Procurement (while not holding final approval).
  • Shape and steward clinical and external data partnerships as part of the enterprise ecosystem.

Portfolio & Value Governance

  • Facilitate business cases and prioritization cadences for the Data Foundry portfolio, with clear data-sourcing options and trade-offs.
  • Recommend (but do not approve) data platforms, vendors and partnership models in line with enterprise architecture and standards.

Minimum required Experience & Skills

  • 12–15 years in data/platform strategy, enterprise data architecture or data governance in complex, federated organizations.
  • Proven track record of identifying BU data needs and turning them into concrete sourcing/partnership strategies (e.g. clinical collaborations, third-party data, installed base, new data sharing models).
  • Demonstrated experience engaging and evaluating data/technology vendors and shaping contracts in partnership with Legal/Procurement.
  • Strong history of leading cross-functional initiatives without direct line authority, working through project teams and virtual squads.
  • Must be able to show at least one concrete example where a data strategy execution, or sourcing/partnership initiative delivered measurable business or clinical value.
  • Solid understanding of cloud data architectures, modern data platforms and data governance frameworks.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; able to bridge technical and non-technical audiences and facilitate decisions.
  • Self-starter with high ownership, comfortable working independently while orchestrating multiple BUs and partners.

Minimum required Education

  • Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Statistics or a closely related quantitative field.
  • OR MBA with strong data/analytics focus plus a technical bachelor’s degree.
  • Formal training or certification in data management/governance or cloud data platforms (e.g. DAMA, DCAM, AWS/Azure/GCP data) is a strong plus.
