This internship focuses on designing, prototyping and testing embedded electronics for gas-sensing devices that must be integrated into a hand-held device form factor. You will work at the intersection of sensor interfacing, low-power embedded design, signal conditioning, and data acquisition to enable
reliable measurement of exhaled-breath characteristics (flow, O2, CO2, VOCs) in a constrained, robust, hygienic, handheld enclosure.

Your role:

  • Conduct a state-of-the-art review of gas sensing methods and sensing technologies.
  • Develop and explore the solution space, perform a trade-off and implement the most promising
  • approach.
  • Explore and collaborate with mechanical engineering teammates to ensure sensor placement and
  • sampling pathway are compatible with prototype form factor and housing.
  • Test and benchmark the developed prototype, collect measurement data, and iterate on
  • hardware/firmware based on results.
  • Produce technical documentation: schematics, bill of materials, firmware description, test protocols,
  • and a concise evaluation report including limitations and next steps.
  • Broadcast and present results to internal audiences.

.
You're the right fit if:

  • Currently enrolled in a Master’s program (WO/MSc.) in Electrical or Biomedical engineering.
  • Experience with analog and digital sensor interfacing, electrical prototyping, ADC’s.
  • Good knowledge of Arduino/Raspberry Pi.
  • Interest in healthcare technology, prototyping and hands-on work.
  • Experience with analog/digital circuit design is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Python or MATLAB is a plus.
  • Language: good written and spoken English.
