Video Standardization Expert

Job Description

As a video standardization expert, you will join our team of experts, bringing in profound knowledge of video compression techniques. Within the dynamic environment of 3D video standardization, you will propose, implement and test creative ideas. Based on your work, patents will be filed to bring new features to the 3D video standards that are currently being developed.  This role requires technical creativity, but also flexibility to navigate in a dynamic environment. 

Your role

• Drive the creation of extensions to video codecs. This involves the creation, implementation and testing of video processing algorithms.
• Develop novel standard essential patents within the framework of international standardization bodies, such as JVET, MPEG and 3GPP based on a good understanding of our existing patent portfolio and current state-of-the-art.
• Test driven design to ensure that your implementations deliver the desired video experience.

You're the right fit if :

• PhD, or MSc degree in Computer Science or Engineering (Software, Computer, Electrical, Electronics/Communications etc.)
• Creative team player with minimum 3 years of experience in video DSP algorithm development
• Experienced in python and C/C++ programming
• Pragmatic hands-on researcher, with good understanding of state-of-the-art video compression codecs, able to explore the merit of novel ideas within the dynamic context of video standardization.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience in supporting video standardization.
• Hands-on experience in audio/video standardization
• Affinity with the process of drafting invention disclosures
• Willingness to travel and actively engage in international standardization meetings, such as JVET, MPEG and 3GPP

* This role is based in the Netherlands, with relocation support available for exceptional candidates.

How we work together
We believe that we are better together than apart. For our office-based teams, this means working in-person at least 3 days per week.
Onsite roles require full-time presence in the company’s facilities.
Field roles are most effectively done outside of the company’s main facilities, generally at the customers’ or suppliers’ locations.
