Position Summary

The Pipeline Controller Associate role at Williams in McPherson, Kansas, offers an exciting entry into pipeline operations. Based in our state-of-the-art control room near the assets we manage, you'll ensure the safe, reliable flow of NGL products like ethane-propane mix and natural gasoline. This position involves 12-hour rotating shifts (Modified DuPont schedule) in a 24/7 environment, including nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call duties. You'll monitor pipelines, respond to alarms, and collaborate with field teams via radio. Ideal for those with control room or energy industry experience seeking growth in a safety-first culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Continuously evaluate system pressures, flows of gas and liquids from receipt to delivery points
  • Set flow rates and pressure set points at pipeline interconnections and delivery points
  • Oversee computer systems, alarms, and remote start/stop of engines and pumps to maintain volume and pressure
  • Execute product rerouting decisions and notifications during emergencies
  • Receive, screen, and route customer calls; provide accurate daily measurement data
  • Ensure delivered/received products meet industry specifications
  • Respond to field communications via local radio system
  • Handle operations of salt caverns, brine systems, and loading/unloading terminals
  • Other duties as assigned in a dynamic 24/7 control room setting

Required Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Required: High school diploma/GED and minimum 1 year experience in relevant industry or control room environment
  • Preferred: Associate's Degree or two-year technical degree + 2 years in pipeline operations, gas scheduling, or control room; DOT Operation Qualification

Physical and Environmental Requirements

  • Work in extreme temperatures, loud noises, and enclosed spaces
  • Lift/carry up to 50 lbs individually; team lift heavier loads
  • Stand, walk, climb, bend, stoop, squat for extended periods
  • Work at heights using man lifts, ladders, scaffolding with PPE
  • Use hand tools as needed

Other Requirements

  • 24/7 shift work including after-hours, on-call, nights, weekends, holidays
  • Strong organization, interpersonal skills, and safety priority
  • Basic MS Office knowledge
