Position Summary

Join Sonoco as a Press Mechanic - Journeyman in Oakdale, CA, on the swing shift from 3:30pm to midnight. Earn $37.06/hour plus a $3,000 sign-on bonus while maintaining critical production equipment in our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility. This full-time, mid-level role offers hands-on opportunities to troubleshoot, repair, and optimize machinery in a dynamic packaging environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate, adjust, troubleshoot, and repair production equipment to meet customer specifications.
• Assist in disassembly, overhaul, and rebuilding of machinery, including track work and elevators.
• Perform preventive maintenance and replenish supplies for efficient operations.
• Inspect in-process materials and products, train personnel, and maintain records.
• Ensure housekeeping, SOP compliance, and environmental management, including waste handling.
• Communicate shift information and work overtime as needed in a safety-focused environment.

Required Qualifications

• Journeyman-level experience in mechanical production functions.
• Comfortable in manufacturing settings with noise, chemicals, and confined spaces; must wear PPE.
• Strong math, communication, and problem-solving skills; ability to identify defects.
• Regular attendance, stress management, and commitment to safety regulations.
• Willingness to work 8-hour shifts with overtime and be on-call.
