The Principal AI Data Engineer is a senior individual contributor role at CrowdStrike, focused on the hands-on design, build, and operation of enterprise-scale AI-driven data platforms. This position owns the architecture, development, reliability, scalability, and performance of AI data systems, emphasizing Snowflake, LLM integrations like Gemini, Glean, and Agentforce, and modern cloud-native architectures for real-time and batch workloads. As a technical authority, you'll drive trusted, production-ready AI capabilities across the enterprise, partnering with engineering, AI/ML, and business teams while staying deeply involved in solution delivery. In this role, you'll take ownership of critical AI data initiatives. Key responsibilities include designing, building, and operating AI-ready data platforms leveraging Snowflake and cloud-native services. You'll architect and deliver conversational Data & AI Assistants integrated with Slack, Gemini, and enterprise systems, partnering closely with data analysts and business SMEs to translate complex questions into reliable data products and AI experiences.
Additionally, you'll design and implement LLM-powered integrations and RAG-based data access patterns, ensuring availability, performance, scalability, and resiliency of data, analytics, and AI platforms. Define operational standards like support models, SLAs, escalation paths, and incident lifecycle processes. Serve as a technical leader and mentor, setting engineering best practices, and collaborate with data engineering, AI/ML, cloud, security, product, and business stakeholders. Champion SRE, DevOps, and FinOps practices through hands-on implementation and guidance, all while contributing to CrowdStrike's mission to stop breaches via the innovative Falcon platform.
To succeed as Principal AI Data Engineer, you need strong technical expertise. Required skills include Snowflake (including Snowpark and Snowflake Intelligence AI/ML integrations), cloud platforms (AWS preferred), LLM platforms and tools (Gemini, Glean, Salesforce AI, or similar), RAG architectures, embeddings, vector databases, and semantic search. Proficiency in modern data stacks like dbt, orchestration frameworks, batch and streaming pipelines, AI/ML platforms (Gemini, SageMaker, Bedrock), Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), CI/CD pipelines (GitLab), observability, incident management, and reliability engineering is essential.
Qualifications include 10+ years of experience in data engineering, AI platforms, or cloud-native systems; 5+ years operating as a senior or principal-level individual contributor; proven experience building and operating enterprise AI and data platforms at scale; strong background in production operations, SRE, and platform reliability; demonstrated ability to lead complex technical initiatives through influence; and excellent communication skills for engaging technical and non-technical stakeholders.
