Role Overview

As a Principal Backend Engineer, Agentic AI (Hybrid) in Sunnyvale, California, you'll join our Next Generation Security Information and Event Management (NG-SIEM) product group—one of CrowdStrike's core investments and fastest-growing areas. NG-SIEM delivers the best single application to meet all security needs, handling billions of events and petabytes of data daily. AI already powers much of our security intelligence, and we're making it central to the security analyst journey. In this hands-on role within the NG-SIEM PAG, you'll own, shape, and build Agentic AI-powered experiences. Thrive in a dynamic environment, collaborating cross-functionally to turn visions into reality. This hybrid position requires 2-3 days per week on-site in Sunnyvale.

Key Responsibilities

Lead AI Innovations

Lead sophisticated Agentic AI solutions, including AI agents, fine-tuning, and integrating with large language models (LLMs). Play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and deploying AI applications using LLMs, Agentic frameworks, and related technologies, with scalability, accuracy, and reliability as key metrics.

Collaborate and Mentor

Work with enterprise teams to integrate LLM models and deliver on roadmaps. Mentor team members to build expertise in Agentic AI. Define benchmarks and metrics to evaluate agent and framework performance.

Drive Technical Excellence

Stay ahead of AI, LLM, and Agentic framework advancements to enhance systems and innovate new ones. Tackle complex challenges across the enterprise, delivering solutions aligned with technical vision and business goals. Troubleshoot issues from development to production. Advise leadership on AI strategies to advance tactical and strategic objectives.

Qualifications & Requirements

To succeed, bring 15+ years with a B.S., 12+ with an M.S., or 10+ with a Ph.D. in a related field. You need 6+ years leading SaaS and hybrid-cloud app development at large organizations or startups, plus 3+ years with Agentic AI platforms like Microsoft Copilot Studio, Amazon Bedrock, Google Vertex AI, or OpenAI. Experience with AI-based conversational UI is essential, alongside strong programming in Python, Go, Scala, or Java for distributed systems. Demonstrate platform development expertise (APIs, databases, serverless), algorithms, distributed systems design, and SDLC. Design hybrid cloud apps considering load balancing, networking, and microservices. Proven remote team collaboration is key. Bonus: Security industry experience.
