Role Overview

The Principal Engineer - NG-SIEM Search role is pivotal in making customers' security-relevant data continuously available for automated detection, response, threat hunting, and Falcon platform use cases. NG-SIEM systems are scaling to ingest over 100 PB of event and action data daily, with up to 10 years retention and handling dozens of millions of queries per hour. Based in Sunnyvale, California (hybrid), or other locations like Redmond, WA; New York City; Austin, TX; or Toronto, Canada, you'll own the technical vision for LogScale Search. Work with a distributed team of collaborative engineers tackling complex problems without predefined solutions. Become a LogScale expert with broad architecture knowledge, driving product direction at massive scale.

Key Responsibilities

• Evolve and apply technical vision for >100 PB/day ingestion while enabling multiplied query intensity.
• Lead by example in customer focus, product innovation, and hands-on operational excellence.
• Deliver core system features as an individual contributor or team lead.
• Prototype promising solutions, secure buy-in, and ensure on-track delivery.
• Collaborate on NG-SIEM strategy, roadmap execution, and cross-Falcon technical coherence.
• Engage principal engineers enterprise-wide and cross-functionally with sales, success, and support.

Qualifications & Requirements

To excel, bring 12+ years designing, implementing, and maintaining software products/systems in SaaS models across development lifecycles and stacks. Require 8+ years in force-multiplying roles delivering through others, plus 3+ years hands-on owning distributed systems processing tens of billions of requests or 1 PB+ data daily. Demonstrate significant impact on customer experience and business results, operational excellence in multi-region services, and success growing remote global teams. Strong communication skills are essential for executive to contributor levels. Bonus: Scala experience, cloud expertise (AWS, Azure, GCP), Kafka mastery, log management/cybersecurity exposure, or ML/data science.
