Role Overview

The Principal Enterprise Architect (Remote) role on our GovCloud Federal IT Operations team is pivotal in modernizing and streamlining delivery for federal customers. This position focuses on designing, implementing, and maintaining information systems and technological infrastructure in cloud and on-premise environments. As a subject matter expert, you'll shape GovCloud's long-term strategy, ensuring performance, reliability, and security. With hands-on involvement, you'll assess complex problems, drive independent work streams, and deliver customer-centric solutions in a rapidly growing team expanding into new markets with innovative features.

  • Overseeing preparation of FedRAMP documentation such as System Security Plan (SSP), Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M), and compliance artifacts.
  • Providing architectural guidance on cloud security, network security, identity management, encryption, and data protection per NIST 800-53 standards.
  • Collaborating with development and operations teams to implement secure DevOps practices.
  • Developing and implementing secure architecture frameworks adhering to FedRAMP Moderate or High Impact baselines.
  • Ensuring compliance and security by guiding threat mitigation measures.
  • Creating parity across cloud environments through standardized processes, tools, and practices.
  • Maturing GovCloud environments via a strategic roadmap aligned with company objectives and regulations.

Qualifications & Requirements

To succeed, you'll bring:

  • 12–14+ years of progressive experience in enterprise IT and architecture.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Deep expertise in on-premises, virtualized, and cloud infrastructures across AWS, Azure, and GCP, including design, integration, governance, and lifecycle management.
  • Proven leadership in evaluating technologies, defining adoption recommendations, and reference architectures.
  • Experience owning enterprise automation and infrastructure-as-code strategies for scalable provisioning, patching, and deployment.
  • Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional stakeholders (IT, legal, security, business) to meet federal requirements.
  • Outstanding presentation skills for communicating architectures and roadmaps to senior leadership.
  • Leadership in large-scale initiatives like modernization, migration, and platform transformations.
