The PRN Radiation Therapist position at Cardinal Health's Mojave Radiation Oncology Center offers a dynamic opportunity to deliver safe and effective radiation treatments using state-of-the-art linear accelerator technology. This as-needed role is designed to cover high-volume periods, planned vacations, or unplanned absences, providing flexibility while ensuring uninterrupted patient care. With an anticipated hourly pay range of $43.30 to $71.69, this position rewards your expertise in administering precise radiation doses to treat cancer and alleviate symptoms. In this role, you'll play a critical part in the radiation therapy process. Responsibilities include administering radiation therapy as prescribed by physicians, verifying treatment doses, fields, and angles prior to each session, and ensuring protective devices shield healthy tissue. You'll simulate patients using CT scanners or simulators for precise localization, maintain accurate treatment chart documentation, and observe clinical progress to report complications promptly. Adhering to radiation safety protocols and performing daily machine safety checks are essential, as is working closely with the oncology team on treatment planning. Additional duties encompass professional conduct, on-call availability, punctuality, and contributing to team efforts to meet processing deadlines.
Each day, you'll use clinical decision-making to safeguard patient well-being, report equipment issues to Center Leaders, and uphold the Radiation Therapist Code of Ethics. This PRN flexibility allows you to balance professional commitments with personal life while supporting a high-quality care environment.
To succeed, candidates must be ARRT Board eligible, with Board certification strongly preferred. A graduation from an accredited school of radiation therapy technology is required, along with Certification in Radiation Therapy Technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. A Bachelor's Degree in science or equivalent experience is preferred. The ability to work a flexible schedule, including on-call shifts, is essential. At this level, you'll apply working knowledge to moderate-scope projects, identify solutions to technical problems, exercise judgment within parameters, and receive general guidance on new initiatives.
