Position Summary
Sonoco is seeking a skilled Process Technician I for our Portland, IN plant. Reporting to the Production Manager, you'll ensure high-quality, efficient production across multiple machine lines on 1st shift (7:00am-3:30pm). With a competitive wage of $24.69/hour, this onsite role demands excellent attendance, mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to team success in fast-paced manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor processes and material flow to meet quality and customer specs.
- Perform preventative maintenance, tests, trial runs, tool changes, and repairs per HECP LOTO.
- Conduct quality checks including burst testing, salinity, and weights.
- Report production numbers, organize tooling, and communicate with maintenance/vendors.
- Direct packers for efficient labor use and meet production goals.
Required Qualifications
- Strong mechanical skills for troubleshooting machine issues.
- Excellent communication and ability to manage multiple tasks independently.
- Reliability, initiative, and quality focus; ability to lift 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Read/understand manufacturing instructions and maintain high craftsmanship.

- Communicate with maintenance, vendors, and direct Inspector/Packers
