Position Summary
The Robotic Welder Production Associate reports to the Site Leader, performing MIG welding on mild steel to fabricate finished products. Work 4am-2:30pm M-Th (OT Fridays) at $24.33/hr. Lift 30-50 lbs, handle materials like 16GA-¼” sheets, ¾” plate, 3/16”-1½” flat bar, 3” I-beams, and 1¼”-3x4” tubing. Involves fitting, inspection, grinding, and flexible multi-job training in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
• MIG weld with .045 wire for fillet/butt joints on diverse steel materials
• Fit/form parts, inspect, and grind per job needs
• Adhere to safety/quality standards and 5S housekeeping
• Read drawings/route sheets to meet production requirements
• Collaborate across safety, quality, maintenance, and management teams
• Flexibly train on multiple jobs/weld positions while lifting 30-50 lbs
Required Qualifications
• 2+ years manufacturing/warehouse experience with Robotic Welding
• Sonoco mission-driven with 'get-it-done' urgency and problem-solving skills
• Lift 50 lbs, work independently/multitask in fast-paced teams
• Read/understand manufacturing instructions and blueprints
• Reliable, initiative-taking, quality-focused craftsmanship
• Knowledge of product quality requirements
