Position Summary

The Production Manager at our City of Industry, CA facility reports to the Plant Manager and oversees a 24/7 operation with 3 shifts and 4 crews. You will manage shift performance, production scheduling, material planning, and a team of over 50 hourly employees. As a key member of the management team, you'll drive safety, quality, productivity, and cost performance in a high-performance environment. This role demands leadership, on-call availability for issue resolution, and a passion for continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Champion Sonoco’s safety-first philosophy across all operations.
  • Lead and motivate 2 direct reports and 50 indirect reports to achieve peak performance.
  • Manage P&L elements with a focus on competitive manufacturing costs.
  • Drive relentless continuous improvement in processes, productivity, and material handling.
  • Promote employee engagement to help team members reach their full potential.
  • Respond to process issues and downtime events as needed, including off-hours.

Required Qualifications

  • BS Degree in Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3+ years in paper mill manufacturing, including 3+ years managing teams.
  • Proven project management experience; packaging industry background ideal.
