Role Overview

The Project Manager - Ubuntu Embedded Systems role at Canonical is a high-impact position within our Devices business, focusing on customer-facing projects delivering Ubuntu images to diverse hardware like robots, edge gateways, IoT devices, PCs, and automotive systems. Based remotely in the APAC region, you'll act as the key liaison between Canonical's world-class engineering teams and clients, ensuring seamless project delivery. This role demands strong coordination across silicon vendors, OEMs, ODMs, IHVs, and internal stakeholders, supporting non-traditional hours to bridge global time zones. Key Responsibilities

In this role, you'll oversee complex projects from inception to completion, aligning Canonical and client goals. Key duties include:

  • Managing full project lifecycles, delivering engineering services for Ubuntu on embedded devices.
  • Collaborating with engineering on custom board enablement and image delivery.
  • Developing statements of work, project schedules, and securing client buy-in.
  • Ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery while mitigating risks.
  • Maintaining daily/weekly communication with clients, stakeholders, and third-party vendors.
  • Driving technical resolutions and advocating Canonical's product portfolio.
  • Tracking critical deliverables and escalating issues to management.
