Role Overview

The Public Relations Manager plays a pivotal role in elevating Choice Hotels' visibility across its iconic brands like Comfort Inn, Quality Inn, and Radisson. Based in North Bethesda, Maryland, this full-time position reports to the Senior Manager, Public Relations, and involves strategic planning, media outreach, content creation, and cross-functional collaboration. You'll drive awareness of corporate priorities and brand initiatives, leveraging trends, insights, and analytics to craft compelling narratives for consumers, media, franchise owners, investors, and staff. This position demands strong project management and relationship-building skills, interacting with Brand, Development, Investor Relations, Legal, Internal Communications teams, and agency partners.

Key Responsibilities

As Public Relations Manager, your core duties include:

• Supporting the development and execution of strategic PR plans to secure consumer and trade media coverage for brands like Radisson and Comfort Inn.
• Managing day-to-day PR activities for select brands, coordinating with internal partners, vendors, and agencies on budgets, timelines, and objectives.
• Proactively pitching story ideas, partnerships, and activations to target media outlets.
• Maintaining communications calendars, awards lists, and media monitoring tools.
• Building relationships with consumer/trade media and influencers; handling inquiries, interviews, and media lists.
• Leading content creation, including drafting press releases, advisories, bios, fact sheets, and FAQs with AP style adherence.
• Overseeing reporting with daily monitors, campaign recaps, and quarterly/annual metrics.
• Assisting in crisis communications and staffing events as needed.

Qualifications & Requirements

To succeed, candidates need:

• A Bachelor's Degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or Hospitality (or equivalent experience).
• At least 4 years in PR or marketing communications, preferably in corporate or agency settings (Senior Account Executive level or above is a plus).
• Demonstrated skills in project management, multitasking, writing, and media relations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Muck Rack, Cision, or PR Newswire is advantageous.
• Strong organizational skills, AP style knowledge, and the ability to manage diverse stakeholders.
