We are seeking a highly skilled C/C++ Specialist / Senior Engineer to join our team and play a key role in a large-scale modernization initiative. This project focuses on migrating a complex legacy system built in C/C++ into a modern, AI-driven architecture, with implementation led by a Java-based platform.
The position is centered on reverse engineering and deep technical analysis of existing C/C++ codebases, with the goal of translating their behavior, business logic, and system interactions to the Java engineering team.
The engineer will act as a critical bridge between legacy and modern architectures, ensuring that the original system’s intent, edge cases, and performance considerations are fully understood and accurately reflected in the new implementation.
Perform in-depth reverse engineering of legacy C/C++ applications to understand architecture, control flow, business rules, and critical behaviors.
Analyze how the existing C/C++ solution interacts with PostgreSQL, including queries, data models, and transactional logic.
Explain and translate C/C++ functionality to Java engineers, enabling them to reimplement the system correctly in a modern stack.
Collaborate closely with Java and architecture teams, answering technical questions and clarifying legacy behavior throughout the migration process.
Contribute to architectural discussions by providing insight into legacy constraints, performance considerations, and system dependencies.
Produce clear technical documentation to support knowledge transfer and long-term maintainability.
Your Skills and Experience
Strong professional experience working with C and/or C++ codebases, particularly in legacy systems.
Proven ability to read, understand, and reason about complex existing code, even without original documentation.
Experience with reverse engineering or analyzing legacy systems for migration, modernization, or refactoring initiatives.
Solid understanding of relational databases, ideally PostgreSQL, including how application logic interacts with data layers.
Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to engineers working in other languages (Java).
Comfort working alongside AI-assisted development or code analysis tools, with the ability to validate and contextualize their outputs.
Strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and structured problem-solving skills.
Experience collaborating in cross-functional, multi-language engineering teams.
Prior involvement in large-scale modernization or migration projects.
Experience acting as a bridge between legacy and modern architectures.
Interest in AI-driven engineering workflows and how AI can accelerate system understanding.
Strong documentation practices and a knowledge-sharing mindset.
Contract modality: This role is Contractor for an initial duration of 6 months with high possibility of extension.
