Overview

Who are we looking for?

 

We’re looking for two commercially minded Planning & Trading Directors to drive smart, strategic media planning and buying across two unique client patches. You’ll thrive in a fast-paced environment, deliver on client briefs, and push strategic thinking to challenge the status quo.

 

One role covers an exciting, dynamic patch featuring FMCG and a major Australian sporting code - fast-moving, high-impact campaigns with room for creativity. The other spans a rich mix of long-tenure service clients in financial, retirement, and education sectors, offering stability, strong partnerships, and the chance to innovate directly with senior clients. Both roles provide exposure to big-picture decisions and the opportunity to shape integrated media solutions.

 

You’ll lead and mentor a talented team, manage multi-million-dollar budgets with precision, and ensure every deliverable meets expectations. Collaboration is key - you’ll work closely with internal specialists and external partners to bring innovative ideas to life.

What will your day to day look like?

  • Oversee planning and buying across ATL and digital channels, ensuring accuracy, quality, and innovation.
  • Act as a trusted advisor, delivering excellence in client service and building strong stakeholder relationships.
  • Translate client briefs into integrated strategies that deliver measurable business outcomes.
  • Represent the agency in senior client meetings, influencing decisions and driving collaboration.
  • Mentor and empower your team, fostering growth and a results-driven culture.
  • Manage multi-million-dollar budgets with precision, including tracking spend, invoicing accuracy, and timely forecasting.
  • Monitor campaign performance, ensure timely reporting, and flag issues early.
  • Collaborate with performance, programmatic, and analytics teams to deliver unified, data-driven solutions.
  • Champion new media initiatives, educate the team on emerging trends, and push creative boundaries.
  • Run WIPs, maintain timelines, and ensure all deliverables meet expectations and agency standards.
  • Deliver insightful campaign reporting, including post-campaign analysis and recommendations for improvement.
  • Build strong partnerships with media and external stakeholders to unlock innovative opportunities.

 

 

What will set you up for success?

  • 5+ years’ experience leading multi-channel media planning and buying (OOH, TV, BVOD, audio, partnerships, digital) in a client service role, ideally within a media agency.
  • Advanced knowledge of media systems and tools, with strong negotiation and trading skills.
  • Deep understanding of ATL and digital channels and how they deliver on client objectives.
  • Commercial acumen to balance strategic thinking with financial oversight and operational detail.
  • Ability to uncover insights using media planning tools and analytics platforms.
  • Confidence in building senior-level relationships and influencing decisions with a data-led POV.
  • Proven leadership skills to mentor and motivate teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Solid track record in managing budgets, forecasting, and reporting with precision.
  • Clear, persuasive communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to stay calm under pressure, juggle multiple priorities, and deliver solutions quickly.
  • Curiosity, excellent analytical thinking, and a solutions focused approach.
