Position Summary
Join Sonoco as a Quality Technician I on the 1st shift (7am-3pm) in Gastonia, NC. Reporting to the Quality Manager, you will problem-solve to meet quality expectations for internal and external customers. Measure critical product/process variables, record data, and drive continuous improvement. You have full authority to stop operations if processes fall outside limits. Must be flexible for overtime. Starting wage: $21.58/hr.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct required off-line testing for products.
- Ensure all customer feedbacks are completed on-time with root cause identified and implemented.
- Assist in analyzing customer feedbacks for trends and continuous improvement.
- Involved in corrective action and preventive action processes.
- Assist in process capability studies and train plant personnel in GIQ quality system.
- Maintain customer property, document control, COAs, and COCs.
- Apply quality tools, inspection techniques, sampling plans, and audit methods.
Required Qualifications
- Sonoco mission-driven mindset with at least 1 year quality experience in manufacturing.
- Experience with calibration/operation of test equipment and root cause/corrective actions.
- "Get it done" attitude, urgency, excellent communication skills.
- Work independently, manage multiple tasks, working knowledge of products/quality requirements.
- Reliable, initiative-driven, quality-focused; lift 25 lbs, stand long periods, read instructions.
