Role Overview

The R&D Life Sciences Associate Principal Scientist role at PepsiCo in Mexico City is a pivotal position within our Research & Development team. This expert integrates nutritional science into product innovation, portfolio transformation, and global reporting for categories like PopCorners snacks and sports drinks. Serving as the key point of contact, you'll blend consumer preferences, regional health trends, and scientific data to craft compelling claims and communications. You'll spearhead Life Sciences External Engagement in Mexico and CARICAM, while amplifying GSSI (Gatorade Sports Science Institute) activation across LATAM through strategic partnerships. Key Responsibilities

In this role, you'll deliver high-impact contributions across innovation and strategy:

• Provide specialized Life Sciences support for permissible snacks and sports drinks projects in Mexico and CARICAM, ensuring science-backed innovation and transformation.
• Develop and execute the External Engagement strategy for healthcare professionals (HCPs) and key opinion leaders (KOLs), leading deployment in Mexico and CARICAM.
• Create integrated external plans, aligning stakeholders from R&D, Corporate Affairs, Communications, Consumer Insights, Marketing, and Innovation.
• Translate complex scientific insights, epidemiological data, consumer trends, and market dynamics into actionable business strategies and credible nutrition claims.
• Build and nurture external collaborations with health and nutrition stakeholders to bolster strategic projects and enhance PepsiCo's scientific credibility.

Qualifications & Requirements

PepsiCo seeks candidates with a robust scientific foundation and proven industry impact:

• Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Food Science, or related field with regulatory knowledge; Sports Nutrition background highly desirable. Master’s in Science, Marketing, Business, or equivalent preferred.
• 5–8 years of experience in food & beverages, sports nutrition, or pharmaceuticals, bridging R&D and business goals.
• Exceptional ability to apply research, consumer insights, and trends to influence innovation, claims development, and decision-making.
• Strategic, data-driven mindset with strong analytical, critical thinking, and project management skills.
• Superior communication and collaboration abilities, including external partner management and advanced English proficiency.
