The R&D Model Shop Machinist at Cardinal Health in Hazelwood, Missouri, plays a pivotal role in the Research and Development function. This position involves designing and developing prototype tooling for new products, including building plastic injection molds and product test fixtures. Provide effective and timely job scheduling information to extended team members. Identify and inform project teams of short- and long-term resource constraints to optimize workflows.
Serve as a Creative Problem Solver, identifying technical solutions for rapid prototyping and product development challenges in the medical device space.
Offer effective technical input to make design concepts more manufacturable, enhancing efficiency and scalability in Cardinal Health's production processes.
Candidates should hold an Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Machine Shop (preferred), with 2+ years of related professional work experience. Essential experience includes designing and fabricating plastic injection mold tooling. Strong verbal and written communication skills are required, along with developed problem-solving, decision-making, and leadership potential. SolidWorks or other CAD experience is desired. At this level, you'll apply knowledge and company policies to moderately difficult tasks, work with limited supervision, and adhere to quality guidelines while maintaining necessary certifications.
