Role Overview

The Registered Nurse Level II at Cardinal Health's cCARE Clinic in Fresno, CA, plays a pivotal role in medical oncology. This full-time position offers a flexible 4/10 work schedule, allowing four 10-hour shifts per week for superior work-life balance. RNs deliver direct patient care, administer chemotherapy, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support cancer patients from diagnosis through treatment and survivorship. With an emphasis on Hematology/Oncology expertise, this role ensures safe, compassionate care aligned with Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) standards.

Key Responsibilities

As a Medical Oncology RN Level II, your duties include:

• Identifying patient needs through rapport-building and comprehensive assessments, including head-to-toe evaluations before chemotherapy.
• Creating a compassionate environment with emotional, psychological, and spiritual support for patients and families.
• Educating patients on conditions, medications, and self-care to promote independence.
• Ensuring quality care by following state regulations, ONS guidelines, USP 800 safety protocols, and the five medication rights.
• Managing chemotherapy dosing with math-based calculations for weight changes and handling emergencies calmly.
• Maintaining inventory, documenting care, and fostering team collaboration in a safe, infection-controlled setting.

Oncology-Specific Expertise

Demonstrate knowledge of Hematology/Oncology diagnoses, labs, disease processes, and psychosocial impacts. Strictly adhere to PPE guidelines to minimize exposure risks.

Qualifications & Requirements

To excel in this role:

• Hold a diploma, Associate, or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited nursing school.
• Have passed the NCLEX-RN and maintain an active California RN license.
• Possess current CPR certification.
• Obtain or maintain ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy Certificate.
• Experience in oncology preferred, with strong skills in patient assessment, medication safety, and multidisciplinary teamwork.

California licensure and ONS certification are mandatory for compliance with state nurse practice acts.
