Position Summary

Join Sonoco as a Plant Reliability Engineer in Newport, TN, reporting directly to the Plant Manager. This critical role leads engineering and maintenance activities, spearheading preventive maintenance, reliability processes, and equipment upgrades to boost plant performance, efficiency, and safety. Key Responsibilities

As Reliability Engineer, you'll promote a collaborative safety culture, analyze equipment data using CMMS and metrics, and apply tools like RCA, FMEA, and Lean DMAIC for root cause analysis and downtime reduction. Lead projects from concept to startup, optimize maintenance spend, drive continuous improvement, and collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to enhance reliability and technical talent development.

Required Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering and maintenance activities for the plant, focusing on preventive maintenance and reliability processes
  • Promote safety culture and collaboration between production, maintenance, and engineering teams
  • Develop concepts to improve plant efficiency, equipment reliability, and reduce maintenance costs
  • Monitor equipment performance data and utilize CMMS and metrics for project prioritization
  • Apply RCA and FMEA tools to identify root causes of failures and implement countermeasures
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean methods like DMAIC
  • Oversee engineering projects from concept to installation, including construction of buildings, equipment, and utilities
