Role Overview

The Retail Pharmacy Technician position at Cardinal Health's Howard Brown Pharmacy in Chicago, IL, is a part-time opportunity working 2-3 days per week. Located at 641 W. 63rd St, this role supports a community-focused retail pharmacy with hours including Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday 9am-7pm; Tuesday 10am-7pm; Friday 9am-5pm; and every 2nd and 4th Saturday 9am-3pm.

As a key team member, you'll assist pharmacists in preparing and delivering prescriptions, building patient relationships, and ensuring seamless operations in a high-need community setting. This role emphasizes accuracy, compliance, and exceptional patient service in a dynamic retail pharmacy environment.

Key Responsibilities

Cardinal Health Retail Pharmacy Technicians are integral to daily operations and patient care. Core duties include:

• Maintaining professional relationships with pharmacy personnel, physicians, nurses, and other medical staff.
• Adapting to varying demands in a fast-paced pharmacy setting while staying available to customers.
• Upholding a friendly, helpful attitude and ensuring a safe, clean pharmacy compliant with all regulations.
• Organizing medications by profiling prescriptions, preparing labels, and calculating quantities for pharmacist review.
• Delivering medications to patients, monitoring stock levels, and ordering supplies as needed.
• Collaborating with the team on 340B best practices to maximize program efficiency.

Qualifications & Requirements

To succeed in this role, candidates should bring:

• A high school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
• Registration as a pharmacy technician in Illinois (if applicable).
• At least 2 years of retail pharmacy technician experience.
• Preferred: 340B program experience, specialty pharmacy background in HIV/AIDS or Hepatitis C, and Spanish language skills.
• Potential vendor credentialing requirements.
