Role Overview

The Revenue Accounting Manager at Canonical is a pivotal leadership role in the finance function, focused on driving revenue recognition processes, systems, and reporting with precision and speed. Reporting to the Global Financial Controller, this home-based position in EMEA time zones (with optional London office access) demands expertise in IFRS 15/ASC 606, particularly for SaaS, subscriptions, and services. Key Responsibilities

In this management position, you will:

• Collaborate with Product Management, Sales Operations, Sales, Legal, and FP&A to design standard contracts aligned with revenue recognition standards.
• Drive process and configuration enhancements in NetSuite and integrated systems for fully automated end-to-end revenue lifecycles.
• Incorporate best practices and emerging technologies to elevate reporting speed and accuracy.
• Evaluate revenue impacts of non-standard contracts and new products.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of revenue and systems accounting professionals.
• Support month-end revenue close with reconciliations, fluctuation analysis, and reporting.
• Maintain robust internal controls over revenue transactions.
• Research and author accounting memos on key revenue policies.
• Serve as primary liaison with external auditors on order-to-cash matters.

Qualifications & Requirements

Canonical seeks an exceptional leader with:

• Professionally qualified status (CPA, CA, or equivalent) and strong IFRS 15 knowledge for SaaS/services.
• Undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance, backed by outstanding academic records.
• Proven leadership in scaling revenue processes in high-growth tech environments.
• Hands-on experience with ERP (NetSuite preferred), Rev Rec tools, CRM (Salesforce), CPQ, in multi-currency, multi-country settings.
• Software licensing, subscription, and services revenue expertise.
• Excellent English communication, interpersonal skills, curiosity, and result-driven mindset.
• Ability to travel twice yearly for up to two-week company events.
