Key Responsibilities

Your day-to-day will be diverse and impactful:

• Oversee core accounting functions: accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), payroll processing, general ledger (GL) maintenance, and bank reconciliations.
• Drive efficient month-end and year-end closes, ensuring timely preparation of accurate financial statements.
• Expertly manage job costing, work-in-progress (WIP) reports, certified payroll, union reporting, and relief tracking—critical for construction projects.
• Handle all aspects of construction billing, from AIA requisitions and lien waivers to change orders and contract tracking (CTCs).
• Collaborate closely with operations teams to provide project-specific reporting and financial analysis.
• Maintain fixed asset registers, lease schedules, and handle all necessary regulatory filings.
• Develop cash flow projections, annual budgets, financial forecasts, and labor rate computations to support strategic decision-making.
• Lead ERP system optimizations and contribute to cross-functional accounting projects for process enhancements.
• Foster strong relationships with internal teams, vendors, and external partners to ensure seamless operations.
• Mentor and supervise 1-2 accounting staff, promoting a culture of excellence and development.

Required Qualifications

To succeed in this Assistant Controller role, candidates should bring:

• A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with strong preference for construction or contracting backgrounds.
