Key Responsibilities

The Assistant Corporate Controller will lead a range of high-impact accounting operations, ensuring seamless financial reporting and compliance.

Core Accounting Oversight

• Oversee comprehensive accounting operations, including general ledger management, financial consolidations, revenue recognition, project accounting, intercompany transactions, payroll processing, and fixed assets tracking.
• Guarantee the accurate and timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financial statements fully compliant with US GAAP standards.

Strategic Financial Management

• Manage corporate overhead accounting with a focus on meticulous tracking, in-depth analysis, and strategic allocation of expenses across business units to optimize resource utilization.
• Maintain exceptional data integrity and consistency in financial reporting across all entities and functions, minimizing errors and enhancing reliability.

Policy Development and Optimization

• Develop and maintain robust financial policies, detailed accounting procedures, and comprehensive internal documentation aligned with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
• Proactively identify opportunities for process improvements, lead finance transformation initiatives, and optimize ERP systems to boost efficiency and scalability.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner closely with FP&A, Tax, Legal, HR, and Operations teams to provide financial insights that support informed decision-making and align with overarching business strategies.

Required Qualifications

To excel in this Assistant Corporate Controller role at our Chicago-based client, candidates must demonstrate a strong blend of technical expertise, leadership, and strategic acumen.

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; Master's degree or MBA preferred.
• Certifications: Active CPA (Certified Public Accountant) certification strongly preferred.
• Experience: Minimum 8+ years of progressive experience in corporate accounting, with proven leadership in general ledger, consolidations, and financial reporting.
• Technical Skills: Deep knowledge of US GAAP, revenue recognition, intercompany accounting, and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite).
• Soft Skills: Exceptional analytical abilities, process improvement mindset, strong communication skills, and the capacity to thrive in a hybrid work model.
