Your day-to-day will immerse you in the fast-paced world of employment defense litigation. Expect to draft persuasive motions, prepare compelling legal briefs, and conduct thorough legal research to build ironclad cases. Court appearances will be a highlight, where your advocacy skills shine in arguing before judges and opposing counsel.
Take ownership of cases from discovery through resolution. This includes managing e-discovery processes, deposing witnesses, and strategizing with senior attorneys. Trial preparation demands meticulous attention—organizing exhibits, prepping witnesses, and anticipating opponent tactics. You'll also negotiate settlements, mediate disputes, and ensure compliance with court deadlines.
In this role, collaboration is key. Work closely with paralegals, experts, and clients to deliver top-tier defense strategies in employment disputes, wage/hour claims, discrimination suits, and more.
Candidates must bring at least 2+ years of litigation experience, with a preference for Labor & Employment law. Valued backgrounds include commercial litigation, product liability defense, insurance coverage disputes, professional malpractice, workers' comp claims, contract breaches/warranties, tort actions, or construction defect cases. A Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and an active California Bar license are non-negotiable.
Success requires exceptional legal research, writing, and analytical prowess. You must excel in oral advocacy, thrive under pressure, and manage multiple cases efficiently. Strong interpersonal skills for client communication and team dynamics are essential. Familiarity with California employment statutes, FEHA, Wage Order compliance, and federal laws like Title VII is a plus.
