Key Responsibilities

In this hands-on supervisory role, you'll:

• Lead and mentor the accounting team, conducting performance reviews, fostering professional development, and building a culture of accountability and excellence.
• Direct comprehensive financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to deliver actionable insights that support strategic decision-making.
• Manage end-to-end accounts receivable and payable processes, perform meticulous bank reconciliations, and optimize cash flow to ensure liquidity and operational efficiency.
• Uphold strict compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, internal policies, and project-specific budgets, mitigating risks in a complex construction landscape.
• Partner closely with the Controller, project managers, and department heads to track expenses, manage job closeouts, and align financials with business objectives.
• Perform in-depth financial analyses, identify trends, and implement process improvements using tools like ERP systems to boost accuracy and streamline workflows.
• Oversee payroll functions, including 401(k) administration, tax withholdings, and multi-state compliance, ensuring timely and error-free processing for field and office staff.
• Stay ahead of industry best practices through ongoing education, certifications, and networking in construction accounting circles.

Required Qualifications

To thrive as our Construction Accounting Manager/Supervisor, you bring:

• A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline; CPA, CMA, or similar certification highly preferred.
• At least 5-7 years of progressive experience in construction accounting, with 2+ years in a supervisory capacity managing teams of 3-10 members.
• Deep expertise in construction-specific accounting practices, including revenue recognition under ASC 606, job costing, percentage-of-completion methods, and change order management.
• Proven proficiency in financial software such as QuickBooks, Sage 300, Viewpoint, Procore, or Timberline, with strong Excel skills for advanced modeling.
• Impeccable knowledge of payroll tax compliance, including multi-state filings, workers' comp, and 401(k) regulations relevant to New Mexico construction projects.
• Exceptional leadership abilities, with a track record of developing talent, resolving conflicts, and driving team performance in deadline-driven settings.
• Analytical mindset with experience in variance analysis, forecasting, and cost control to support profitable project delivery.
• Strong communication skills to collaborate across departments, present financial data to executives, and liaise with auditors or regulators.
• Ability to thrive in a hybrid work model, with occasional site visits to construction projects around Albuquerque and surrounding areas.
