With a competitive salary targeting $165,000 annually, this is a rare chance to lead finance at a company poised for industry dominance.

About the Role

As Controller, you'll serve as the financial backbone of this innovative manufacturing firm, overseeing all aspects of financial reporting, compliance, and analysis. This is not a remote or hybrid position but an on-site leadership role in Hauppauge, NY, where your presence will directly influence operational decisions and company trajectory. You'll report to the CFO and collaborate closely with department heads to align financial strategies with production goals, inventory management, and market expansion initiatives. Ideal candidates bring manufacturing experience, a proactive mindset, and the ability to translate complex data into clear, strategic recommendations for senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Your day-to-day impact will be profound and multifaceted:

  • Lead the monthly financial close process from start to finish, ensuring GAAP-compliant reporting with zero delays.
  • Develop comprehensive financial statements and variance analyses that empower data-driven decision-making across the organization.
  • Manage sophisticated inventory accounting and manufacturing cost accounting, including standard costing, variance analysis, and cycle counts.
  • Perform rigorous balance sheet reconciliations, flux analysis, and maintain SOX-compliant internal controls.
  • Prepare executive-level dashboards, KPIs, and presentations that highlight financial health and operational performance.
  • Partner with operations, sales, and production teams to drive cost efficiencies, pricing strategies, and working capital optimization.
  • Design and implement robust financial controls, risk management protocols, and audit-ready processes to protect company assets.
  • Lead annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting, and long-range financial planning to support aggressive growth targets.
  • Champion process automation and ERP enhancements to streamline reporting and reduce manual efforts.
  • Provide ad-hoc financial modeling and scenario analysis to guide investments, acquisitions, and capacity expansions.

Required Qualifications

To succeed in this Controller role, you need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration; CPA, CMA, or MBA strongly preferred.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in financial leadership, ideally within manufacturing, distribution, or cost-intensive industries.
  • Deep expertise in manufacturing accounting principles, including job costing, overhead allocation, and inventory valuation (FIFO/LIFO).
  • Advanced proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Epicor, or Infor) and Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, Power Query).
  • Proven track record managing full-cycle close processes in high-volume environments.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to identify trends, anomalies, and improvement opportunities.
  • Strong communication skills for presenting to C-suite executives and influencing cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Hands-on leader comfortable in both strategic planning and tactical execution.
