Key Responsibilities

In this critical role, you'll wear many hats to ensure the financial health of the organization. Key responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing all core accounting functions such as general ledger management, accounts payable and receivable, payroll processing, and comprehensive financial reporting.
  • Producing accurate and timely financial statements on monthly, quarterly, and annual cycles, providing stakeholders with clear visibility into performance metrics.
  • Designing, implementing, and maintaining robust internal controls to protect company assets, mitigate risks, and guarantee adherence to internal policies and external regulations.
  • Standardizing accounting procedures across departments to promote consistency, efficiency, and scalability as the business grows.
  • Partnering with department heads and executive leadership to develop realistic budgets, accurate forecasts, and scenario-based financial models.
  • Leading all audit activities, serving as the primary liaison with external auditors, and ensuring seamless compliance with GAAP, SOX, and other standards.
  • Delivering in-depth financial analysis, KPI dashboards, and strategic reports to inform executive decisions and support key business initiatives.
  • Vigilantly monitoring cash flow dynamics, nurturing banking relationships, and implementing strategies to enhance liquidity and overall financial performance.
  • Managing all tax compliance obligations, including preparation and filing of federal, state, and local returns, while identifying tax-saving opportunities.
  • Championing continuous improvement by pinpointing inefficiencies, integrating advanced financial systems (ERP, BI tools), and driving automation initiatives.

Required Qualifications

To succeed as our Controller in Houston, candidates must bring:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline; Master's degree or MBA preferred.
  • Active CPA certification or equivalent (CMA, CGMA) strongly desired.
  • Minimum 8-10 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance, with at least 5 years in a Controller or equivalent senior leadership capacity.
