Key Responsibilities

Your day-to-day will involve a blend of transactional accounting, process ownership, and strategic support:

• Execute daily transactions: process vendor invoices, raise sales invoices, match bank receipts, update project invoicing schedules, and perform bank reconciliations to maintain real-time financial accuracy.
• Lead AR management by monitoring the debtors ledger, pursuing overdue payments, resolving customer queries, managing exemption certificates, and conducting credit checks for new customer onboarding.
• Support QuickBooks inventory controls, including Bills of Materials (BOMs), dynamic pricing adjustments, and tracking inventory movements for precise stock valuation.
• Efficiently manage the accounting email inbox, providing timely responses to inquiries from customers, suppliers, and internal colleagues to foster strong relationships.
• Maintain QuickBooks integrity through supplier setups, template management, and system optimizations.
• Reconcile credit card statements and staff expenses, verifying approvals and allocating costs to appropriate GL codes and cost centers.
• Oversee AP operations: initiate payment runs, distribute remittances, and resolve supplier disputes promptly.
• Drive inventory accounting by collaborating with purchasing and operations teams to resolve discrepancies, set up inventory items, review carrying amounts, and account for freight costs.
• Own inventory accuracy in quantity and valuation, implementing process improvements for operational excellence.
• Manage sales tax and income tax compliance, working closely with external advisors to ensure regulatory adherence.
• Support the UK-based team during month-end close, handling accruals, prepayments, depreciation journals, intercompany reconciliations, goods-in-transit tracking, revenue recognition, and balance sheet reviews.
• Deliver detailed variance analysis to the Management Accountant, leveraging your intimate knowledge of monthly transactions.
• Proactively identify cost savings and efficiencies to boost profitability across the organization.
• Assist with year-end activities, addressing queries from auditors, tax authorities, and accounts teams.
• Take full ownership of company compliance, including business registrations, taxation filings, and regulatory requirements.

Required Qualifications for Controller Success

To excel, candidates need:

• A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; CPA or equivalent certification highly preferred.
• At least 5-7 years in a Controller or senior accounting role, with hands-on QuickBooks experience in inventory-heavy environments.
• Deep expertise in US GAAP, sales/use tax, income tax processes, AR/AP, bank reconciliations, and month-end/year-end closes.
• Strong analytical skills for variance reporting, cost analysis, and process improvements.
