Key Responsibilities

Your role as Controller will be hands-on and strategic, encompassing a wide range of critical functions:

• Lead daily accounting operations, including accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), general ledger (GL) maintenance, payroll processing, and precise inventory reconciliations to maintain operational efficiency.
• Develop and deliver comprehensive financial statements, management reports, and performance analytics tailored for dealership executives.
• Direct all vehicle titling processes, from documentation to submissions, ensuring full compliance with state and federal regulations while swiftly resolving any discrepancies.
• Master dealership management systems (DMS), with a strong preference for Dealertrack expertise, to streamline accounting workflows and data integrity.
• Uphold rigorous adherence to automotive industry standards, GAAP principles, and internal financial controls to safeguard assets and mitigate risks.
• Manage cash flow, banking relationships, reconciliations, and treasury functions to optimize liquidity and financial health.
• Foster cross-departmental collaboration with sales, service, and parts teams to align financial procedures, enhance reporting accuracy, and support business objectives.
• Mentor and train the accounting team, building high-performance capabilities through guidance and development initiatives.
• Support external audits, annual budgeting, financial forecasting, and ad-hoc projects that drive dealership profitability.
• Execute timely and accurate month-end closes, variance analysis, and closeout procedures to enable informed decision-making.

Required Qualifications

To excel in this Controller position, candidates must possess:

• Extensive hands-on experience in automotive dealership accounting, including dealership-specific financial cycles and reporting.
• Demonstrated proficiency in preparing GAAP-compliant financial statements and advanced reporting tools.
• Deep knowledge of vehicle titling, DMV processes, and compliance requirements unique to the automotive sector.
• Proven track record with Dealertrack or similar DMS platforms for accounting integration.
• Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to solve complex problems in fast-paced settings.
• Leadership experience supervising accounting teams and delivering training programs.
• Familiarity with cash management, reconciliations, payroll systems, and inventory controls.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or equivalent certification highly preferred.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in automotive retail.
• Strong communication skills for stakeholder collaboration and reporting.
