Robert Half is proud to present an exceptional career opportunity for a seasoned Controller in Suffolk, Virginia. This pivotal leadership position within a thriving consumer products and manufacturing organization offers a salary context of $150,000, reflecting the high level of expertise required. As Controller, you will serve as the financial backbone of the company, driving strategic financial operations in a dynamic environment focused on coffee production, inventory management, and global reporting. Suffolk, VA, provides an ideal setting with its proximity to major ports, manufacturing hubs, and a growing business community, making it perfect for professionals seeking impact in manufacturing finance.

This full-time role demands a proactive leader who thrives in manufacturing cost accounting, inventory control, and cross-functional collaboration. With Robert Half's renowned expertise in finance and accounting placements, you'll join a network of top talent while advancing your career in a company emphasizing innovation, green coffee initiatives, and sustainable growth. If you have Big Four audit experience and a passion for financial integrity, this Controller position is your gateway to executive influence.

Key Responsibilities

The Controller oversees critical functions including team leadership for cost accounting, accounts payable (A/P), and inventory control. You will mentor and coach staff to foster a high-performance culture. Collaborating closely with the FP&A group, you'll deliver precise monthly and quarterly operations results. Direct financial reporting ensures compliance with bank covenants and regulatory standards.

Reporting to the parent company involves managing monthly statutory reports, sales data, treasury updates, green coffee metrics, capital expenditures, coffee shop performance, and comprehensive management reporting. You will oversee tax and statutory licensing, coordinate annual tax provisions with external accountants, and handle R&D tax credit documentation.

Audits and reviews fall under your purview, alongside ensuring financial systems' consistency and integrity to safeguard assets. Lead the monthly close process, enforce GAAP and IFRS standards, and provide expert guidance on complex transactions and new accounting pronouncements. Oversee budget and forecast submissions, operational reporting for manufacturing, logistics, and inventory, and serve as the accounting lead in annual budgeting and projections.

Additional duties include insurance renewal submissions, custom/ad hoc reporting, special projects, and championing continuous improvement as a change agent across the department.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance (MBA strongly preferred), along with CPA or CMA certification. Big Four audit experience at the manager level is essential. Require 7+ years in accounting/finance leadership within consumer products or manufacturing, with hands-on inventory control and manufacturing cost accounting expertise.

Seek a dynamic leader skilled in motivating teams through cooperative management. Strong analytical, process management, verbal, and written communication skills are mandatory. Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI is required; ERP experience (Oracle/E1) is a plus. This role suits change agents ready to implement best practices in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
