Job Description

About the Data Architect Role at Robert Half

Robert Half is seeking an experienced Data Architect to join our client's dynamic team in Phoenix, Arizona. This strategic position plays a pivotal role in shaping the organization's enterprise data architecture amid major ERP implementations and operational system rollouts. As a Data Architect, you will define, govern, and evolve data strategies across ERP platforms, operational systems, and advanced analytics environments. This is not a hands-on reporting or operational data fixing role—it's about establishing the foundational structures, standards, and guardrails that empower teams to deliver scalable, high-integrity data solutions.

In this high-impact position, you'll ensure data consistency, scalability, and integrity as the company scales its operations. Reporting to senior IT leadership, you'll collaborate with cross-functional teams including Applications Management, Operations Success Managers, and integration engineers. If you thrive on designing robust data ecosystems that support business growth, financial accuracy, and analytics-driven insights, this Data Architect opportunity at Robert Half offers a chance to make a lasting impact.

Key Responsibilities

Data Architecture and Design

  • Define and maintain comprehensive enterprise data models spanning ERP, operational systems, and analytics platforms to support long-term scalability.
  • Design canonical data models for critical business domains such as customers, vendors, jobs, projects, financials, and assets, ensuring interoperability across systems.
  • Establish clear data relationships and ownership protocols integrating platforms like BuildOps, Procore, ERP finance modules, and downstream analytics tools.
  • Set enterprise-wide standards for master data management, reference data, and transactional data handling to promote consistency and efficiency.

Data Governance and Quality

  • Define data ownership, stewardship roles, and accountability structures organized by business domain for clear responsibility lines.
  • Develop robust data quality rules, validation standards, and reconciliation frameworks to maintain data trustworthiness.
  • Collaborate with Applications Management and Operations Success Managers to synchronize system configurations with established data standards.
  • Implement auditability and traceability standards specifically for financial and operational data to meet compliance and reporting needs.

Integration and Analytics Enablement

  • Partner closely with integration engineers to define precise data contracts, schemas, and transformation rules for seamless system connectivity.
  • Ensure data models are optimized to power reporting, business intelligence (BI), and advanced analytics use cases across the organization.
  • Review and approve all data design decisions related to new integrations, ERP modules, and platform expansions.

ERP and Implementation Support

  • Provide expert support for ERP implementations by validating data designs, migration mappings, and cutover readiness processes.
  • Evaluate and guide data migration strategies to align with the target-state enterprise architecture.
  • Offer architectural guidance throughout fit-gap analysis, design workshops, and testing phases of major projects.

Required Qualifications

To excel as our Data Architect, you bring 10+ years of progressive experience in data architecture, with a focus on enterprise environments involving ERP systems. Expertise in tools like BuildOps, Procore, or equivalent construction/operations platforms is highly desirable. You must have a proven track record in data governance, quality assurance, and integration design, including defining canonical models and data contracts. Familiarity with BI platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) and ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP) is essential. Strong communication skills are key for partnering across technical and business teams. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is required; advanced certifications in data architecture (e.g., CDMP) are a plus. Local candidates in Phoenix, AZ preferred for hybrid work.
