Job Description

About the DevOps Engineer Role at Robert Half

Robert Half is seeking a talented DevOps Engineer to join our client's dynamic team in Memphis, Tennessee. This is an exciting opportunity for a cloud-savvy professional passionate about automation, infrastructure, and delivering reliable, scalable systems. As a DevOps Engineer, you'll bridge the gap between development and operations, driving efficiency through modern CI/CD practices, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and cloud-native technologies. Our client, a forward-thinking organization in the Memphis area, relies on AWS, Azure, or GCP to power mission-critical applications, and they're looking for someone who can optimize containerized environments with Docker and Kubernetes while ensuring top-tier security and monitoring.

In this full-time role, you'll contribute to high-impact projects that enhance system resiliency, streamline deployments, and support agile development teams. Memphis, TN offers a vibrant tech scene with lower living costs compared to coastal hubs, making it an ideal location for career growth. If you thrive in collaborative environments and have a track record of troubleshooting production issues, this DevOps position at Robert Half could be your next career milestone. With a competitive salary around $110,000, this role is perfect for mid-to-senior level engineers seeking stability and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

CI/CD and Automation Leadership

Take ownership of designing, building, and maintaining robust CI/CD pipelines that enable seamless application and infrastructure deployments. Leverage tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions to automate workflows, reducing manual interventions and accelerating release cycles for development teams.

Cloud Infrastructure Management

Automate and manage cloud environments across AWS, Azure, or GCP using Infrastructure as Code principles with Terraform, CloudFormation, or ARM templates. Optimize resources for cost-efficiency, scalability, and performance while implementing disaster recovery strategies to ensure business continuity.

Containerization and Orchestration

Support and scale containerized platforms with Docker for building images and Kubernetes for orchestration. Deploy microservices architectures, manage clusters, and integrate service meshes to handle complex, high-traffic workloads reliably.

Monitoring, Logging, and Security

Implement comprehensive logging, monitoring, and alerting solutions using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, or CloudWatch. Proactively monitor system performance, availability, and reliability, while enhancing security postures through vulnerability scanning, compliance checks, and zero-trust models.

Collaboration and Incident Response

Partner closely with development, QA, and operations teams to streamline build and release processes. When issues arise, lead troubleshooting efforts, incident response, and post-mortem analyses to prevent recurrence. Maintain meticulous documentation, runbooks, and operational standards for knowledge sharing.

Required Qualifications

To succeed in this DevOps Engineer role, candidates should possess:

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or cloud operations.
  • Expertise in IaC tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Proficiency with Docker, Kubernetes, and related container technologies.
  • Strong skills in monitoring/alerting (Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk) and scripting (Python, Bash).
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, agile methodologies, and security best practices.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent; relevant certifications (AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, CKAD) preferred.
  • Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally and resolve production incidents swiftly.

Robert Half values diverse backgrounds and encourages applications from those with a passion for automation and cloud innovation.
