Key Responsibilities

The Director of Accounting will oversee end-to-end financial operations, ensuring seamless execution across multiple domains. Key duties include:

• Directing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes with a focus on accuracy, timeliness, and efficiency to meet deadlines in a high-volume environment.
• Reviewing and approving critical journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements, guaranteeing precision and full compliance with GAAP and SOX requirements.
• Collaborating closely with the VP of Finance to conduct in-depth variance analysis, delivering actionable insights through comprehensive reporting dashboards.
• Maintaining and enhancing robust internal controls, including SOX documentation, audit preparation, and risk mitigation strategies.
• Overseeing accounts payable operations—from invoice processing and approval workflows to payment scheduling, vendor negotiations, and cash flow optimization.
• Managing accounts receivable functions, including AR aging analysis, invoicing accuracy, collections strategies, and DSO reduction initiatives.
• Supervising payroll for diverse employee classifications (exempt/non-exempt), ensuring compliance with federal, state, and NYC-specific labor laws.
• Partnering with HR on payroll discrepancies, benefits integration, and adherence to evolving regulations like NY Paid Sick Leave.
• Coordinating all tax matters with external CPA firms, managing filings, audits, and compliance for corporate, payroll, and sales/use taxes.
• Administering corporate card programs, enforcing expense policies, and analyzing spending trends to control costs and identify savings opportunities.

Required Qualifications

To excel as our Director of Accounting, candidates must possess:

• A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; Master's or MBA preferred.
• Active CPA certification or equivalent (CMA, CGMA).
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 5+ years in senior leadership roles managing teams of 5+.
