Key Responsibilities

Financial Leadership & Management

• Deliver strategic oversight for accounting and finance functions, aligning with organizational goals and mission.

• Collaborate with C-suite executives and department heads to inform data-driven operational and strategic decisions.

Accounting & Financial Reporting

• Direct core accounting processes: general ledger maintenance, accounts payable/receivable, payroll processing, and fixed asset management.
• Orchestrate timely month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closes, producing accurate financial statements.
• Uphold GAAP principles, nonprofit accounting standards, and FQHC-specific reporting mandates.
• Prepare comprehensive reports for the Board of Directors, internal stakeholders, and external regulators.

Grant & Fund Accounting Expertise

• Manage complex grant accounting for HRSA, federal, state, local, and private funding streams.
• Track budgets, ensure allowable costs, and meet stringent reporting deadlines with precision.
• Partner with program directors on grant budgeting, monitoring, drawdowns, and compliance audits.

Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis

• Spearhead the annual budgeting process, engaging leadership across departments.
• Create robust multi-year forecasts, cash flow models, and scenario planning.
• Conduct variance analysis, delivering actionable insights to optimize financial performance.

Compliance, Audits & Risk Management

• Implement and monitor robust internal controls to protect assets and mitigate risks.
• Lead annual financial audits, Uniform Guidance Single Audits, and program-specific reviews.
• Navigate federal, state, and FQHC regulations to maintain compliance excellence.

Systems & Process Optimization

• Evaluate and enhance financial software systems for efficiency and data integrity.
• Champion automation initiatives to streamline workflows and reduce manual efforts.

Required Qualifications

To excel in this Director of Finance & Accounting role, candidates must bring:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or equivalent; CPA, CMA, or Master's preferred.
• 8+ years in finance/accounting, including 3+ years in nonprofit/healthcare leadership.
• Proven track record in FQHC grant accounting, HRSA compliance, and fund reporting.
• Advanced proficiency in GAAP, Uniform Guidance, and nonprofit financial standards.
• Strong leadership with experience developing finance teams.
• Expertise in ERP systems (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, NetSuite) and advanced Excel modeling.
• Exceptional analytical, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
