Job Description

About the Role

Robert Half is seeking an exceptional Director of Project Management to join our dynamic team in Los Angeles, California. This pivotal leadership role is designed for a strategic thinker with deep expertise in high-volume creative production environments, particularly those supporting tours, festivals, and national marketing initiatives. As the Director, you will provide overarching strategic oversight, optimizing workflows and leveraging advanced tools like Jira Atlassian to drive efficiency and data-informed decisions at scale.

In this fast-paced position, you will partner closely with Project Managers and cross-functional stakeholders to assess processes, pinpoint improvements, and implement enhancements that boost visibility, accountability, and operational excellence. Ideal candidates bring technical fluency, proven leadership, and the ability to translate complex data into business-level insights. If you thrive in creative, high-stakes settings and have a passion for systems innovation, this role offers a chance to shape the future of project management at Robert Half.

Key Responsibilities

Project & Workflow Oversight

  • Conduct regular check-ins with Project Managers to assess progress, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Oversee project management at scale in a high-volume ticket environment (100+ tickets per day, primarily production-focused).
  • Provide oversight on longer-term, complex content and creative initiatives, such as major campaign assets, large-format creative, templates, and multi-month projects.
  • Step in to ensure continuity and oversight during Project Manager absences as needed.

Jira Atlassian Systems & Data Leadership

  • Evaluate and optimize Jira Atlassian workflows, structure, and reporting for maximum efficiency.
  • Lead system improvements to enhance usability, analytics, and operational insights.
  • Support the rollout and adoption of an upcoming enterprise Jira account and related tools.
  • Strengthen reporting mechanisms to deliver deeper visibility into workload, performance, and execution metrics.
  • Translate system data into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders across the organization.

AI, Automation & Scalability

  • Thoughtfully incorporate AI into QA processes, automation, and task assignment (excluding AI-generated creative work).
  • Identify opportunities to improve accuracy, efficiency, and consistency through system-driven solutions.
  • Support future international coordination as workflows scale globally.

Cross-Functional & Team Leadership

  • Act as a senior liaison across creative, marketing, operations, and leadership teams.
  • Ensure all marketing and creative work flows through standardized project management systems.
  • Partner with stakeholders to understand pain points, priorities, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Lead and develop a small team (1 direct report initially, with potential to grow), providing steady leadership in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bring strong creative judgment and an eye for quality without hands-on design execution.

Required Qualifications

To excel in this role, candidates must possess:

  • Proven experience managing project management at scale in high-volume environments.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and overseeing teams.
  • Advanced expertise in Jira Atlassian or comparable enterprise PM tools (e.g., Asana, Monday.com).
  • Strong technical and systems-oriented background with a data-driven mindset.
  • Experience improving reporting, analytics, and operational insights.
  • Practical understanding of AI in operational and automation contexts.
  • Continuous learner mindset focused on enhancing tools, systems, and processes.
  • Excellent communication skills to convey insights at the executive level.
  • Background in creative production, marketing, or events (tours, festivals preferred).

This position demands a blend of strategic vision, hands-on technical skills, and leadership acumen, making it ideal for seasoned professionals ready to elevate their impact.
