About the GCP Engineer (Mid-Level) Role at Robert Half

Key Responsibilities

GCP Administration & Operations

• Administer GCP organizations, folders, projects, and billing with precision.
• Implement IAM roles, service accounts, and least-privilege access controls.
• Manage VPC networks, firewall rules, VPNs, and hybrid connectivity solutions.
• Leverage Cloud Monitoring, Logging, and Alerting for proactive platform health monitoring.
• Lead troubleshooting of production issues with root-cause analysis across dev, test, staging, and prod environments.

Cloud Migration & Modernization

• Drive on-premises to GCP and cloud-to-cloud migrations (AWS/Azure to GCP).
• Conduct workload/dependency analysis, execute data and application migrations, and handle cutovers.
• Optimize post-migration environments and modernize legacy workloads into cloud-native architectures.

Integration & Platform Engineering

• Integrate GCP with Google Workspace, Active Directory, SSO, CI/CD tools, and SaaS apps.
• Build API-based and event-driven solutions using REST APIs and Pub/Sub.
• Partner with security, networking, and app teams on hybrid/multi-cloud strategies.

Application & Development Support

• Provision environments, streamline deployment pipelines, and tune for performance/reliability.
• Architect reviews ensuring scalability, resilience, security, and cost efficiency.

Data & Analytics (Preferred)

• Support BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, Dataflow for ingestion and analytics.
• Apply data governance, access controls, and performance tuning best practices.

Required Qualifications

To succeed as a Mid-Level GCP Engineer, you need 3-5+ years of hands-on GCP experience in production settings. Key qualifications include expertise in cloud administration, migration strategies, IAM/VPC management, monitoring tools, and integration patterns. Familiarity with data platforms is a bonus. Strong problem-solving, collaboration skills, and a passion for cloud-native technologies are essential. Bachelor's in Computer Science or related field preferred; certifications like Google Professional Cloud Architect a plus but secondary to experience.
