Job Description

About the Role

Robert Half's esteemed client in Houston, Texas, is on the hunt for a talented Digital Learning Experience Designer to revolutionize how employees learn and perform in dynamic work environments. This full-time position is perfect for a creative professional who thrives at the intersection of technology, pedagogy, and user-centered design. Specializing in Articulate and NovoEd, you'll transform complex learning strategies into intuitive, high-impact digital experiences that drive measurable job performance improvements. If you're passionate about evidence-based instructional design, crafting interactions that spark critical thinking, and leveraging learning science to boost retention, this role offers an exciting opportunity to make a tangible difference.

In this position, you'll bridge the gap between instructional theory and practical application, ensuring every module is not just informative but transformative. Houston's vibrant energy sector and corporate landscape provide the perfect backdrop for innovative L&D initiatives, and Robert Half is proud to connect top talent like you with forward-thinking organizations. With a focus on real-world outcomes, you'll design solutions that empower learners to make better decisions, apply knowledge confidently, and excel in their roles.

Key Responsibilities

Collaborative Design and Development

Work hand-in-hand with Instructional Designers, subject matter experts, and key stakeholders to co-create digital learning solutions tailored to specific job tasks and performance objectives. Your role will involve translating high-level strategies into focused, engaging digital modules using industry-leading tools like Articulate Storyline and NovoEd.

Interactive Experience Creation

Harness Articulate and NovoEd to build interactive, practice-oriented experiences that emphasize decision-making, scenario-based learning, and real-world application. Design interactions that challenge learners to think critically, make choices, and reflect on outcomes, fostering deeper understanding and skill mastery.

Multimedia and Learning Science Application

Integrate multimedia elements—such as animations, videos, and simulations—while grounding your decisions in proven learning science principles. Optimize for cognitive load, attention capture, knowledge retention, and transfer to optimize learner engagement and long-term results.

Design Iteration and Quality Assurance

Make intentional choices on layout, visuals, and media to enhance usability and effectiveness. Conduct thorough reviews of content for clarity, relevance, and accessibility, then iterate based on stakeholder feedback, usability testing, and performance data to deliver polished, high-quality experiences.

Required Qualifications

To excel in this Learning Experience Designer role, you'll need a blend of technical prowess, creative flair, and a deep understanding of adult learning principles. Ideal candidates bring:

  • Advanced proficiency in Articulate 360 (Storyline, Rise) and NovoEd platforms for eLearning development.
  • 3+ years of experience in digital learning design, with a portfolio showcasing interactive, performance-focused modules.
  • Solid grasp of learning theories (e.g., cognitive load theory, spaced repetition, multimedia learning principles).
  • Strong collaboration skills for working with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Expertise in UX/UI principles applied to educational content, ensuring intuitive and accessible designs.
  • Ability to analyze learner data and iterate designs for continuous improvement.
  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Graphic Design, or related field.
  • Excellent communication skills for presenting designs and incorporating feedback.

Bonus points for experience in Houston's corporate training landscape or industries like energy, finance, or healthcare.
